Choosing the Right Pillow Sizes
A quiet primer on 20s, 22s, lumbars, and Euros — and how to combine them for sofas, beds, and accent chairs.
Size is the invisible ingredient. Get it right and everything feels considered; get it wrong and even the most beautiful covers look apologetic.
Sofas
For an 84"–96" sofa: two 22s at the outside, two 20s inside, and a 14×22 lumbar. For anything longer, add a second lumbar or a third 20.
Beds
Queen: two Euros, two standards, one lumbar. King: three Euros, two Kings, one lumbar. Always layer front-to-back, largest at the headboard.
Accent chairs
One 20" cover, or a single lumbar. Never two — a lone pillow reads as thoughtful; a pair reads as furniture-store.
